GunDAMN Its Been a While...:D

Took me all of 2 minutes to come up with that title. Little foreshadowing and a little sexual tension...you like? I like.

Anyways, very sorry for that brief intermission. Shit, you'd think with breaks like that I'd be a big celebrity who could afford to take them. Nope, just a college student and right now, things are hectic. Finals are here, did one today and I was pretty content with it but what do you care, you're here for the drawing of the stuff that my blog dictates me to do (he's holding me hostage!...call someone...)

Back on track with the art commissions. This week, or better yet, for the past few weeks, I've been steadily working on my best friend's request. Now, if it wasn't for that title he has(OMG! BFF), I would've shut his request down without a second thought. Well, there would've been a second thought but it would've been more about violence against the requester. He asked for (like you couldn't guess) a Gundam...a fucking Gundam.(I might have to start watching my language, my grandmother hates seeing me write curses on this thing...she has to stop reding them then :D)

Those things are annoyingly tedious and I have always hated the idea of drawing something too complicated but I gave it a shot and honestly, I don't ever see myself doing one again unless they make Gundams cyborgs and that just sounds dumb so yeah, never again...unless for money. I even decided on doing Gundam Wing only because I remember picking only that character in the SNES (Super Nintendo) Gundam games and yeah, he's even harder.
I started out with a simple (yeah right) out line. Not bad took me all of 5 hours to finish it but yeah, simple...

Then I worked on school, tried not to fail anything, videos here and there and then finally did the outline in Photoshop and that took annoyingly long as well. So many lines I swear I was happy when I finished half, just so I could sleep. See?

Then after that gruesome part wa done, I felt ALOT better. Coloring was a process but it was easy enough to do. There's alot of parts to making the colors seem right and I wanted it to look a little better and to further my understanding of Photoshop so I started using the gradient tool. Nifty little thing and helped out.

I know, I know, the sword looks weird but I wanted it a little tipped and uh, yeah. I might re-touch it a little but I seriously don't want to look at this file for a while. Since it had been a while, I did a quick background that I think seems appropriate so stop teasing me... :(

There you have it. Wow, it feels great to have something new up. I had been coming back to the blog every now and then and expected to see an update from myself. A crazy idea but if it happened, then who was crazy to begin with? NOT ME!...he he.

BIG UPDATE: I started, get this: A PODCAST with my good friend Peter Sciacca called Tangent Combo. We did it a couple weeks back and only have one so far but I want to hear your thoughts. You can subscribe to it using a small button in the page so you can listen to it on "the go"(I just think its cliche to say that and wouldn't be surprised it was copyrighted byt Go-Gurt or something)
Here's the link: Tangent Combo

If you want to talk to me or e-mail me about something, I posted my e-mail on my profile and all my social networking stuff is on the sidebar...(this is a sidebar mom)--->
Follow me on Twitter if you'd like too. I may not update every hour but when I do, you best believe its going to be...kinda ok, good at best. Jk. I try to be funny, you decide if I am.
Peace

Pug+logging=Plugging!

Hey wasup? I got way hammered this weekend. Tip: Liquor impedes ability to heal. Fact: My pinky reswolled up for a few hours. How weird and scary was that?!...Not too much. I'm here to announce something pretty cool and interesting and artistic. I know, not my usual post but there will be a more normal one soon but I really like this artist so bear with me.

I took an Intro to Drawing class at the "prestigious school, SUNY Purchase" (inside joke:this is how the school was referred to in a Wikipedia entry about Zoey Kravitz who left after a year) and found it very helpful. The point is, my teacher's name was Karen Ruenitz (cool last name since there's so many ways to pronounce it wrong but back to the point) and she, I found out, is a graduate student herself which is cool. She's doing an exhibition here in

which is cooler, from:

MFA Graduation Exhibition '09

Cool Handout.

On View from April 20th (Right now!) til April 24th.
Reception will be held April 23rd from 5-7pm.

I don't announce people's events so you best believe she's good. She did her work on easily breakable paper because she said how she would want something she worked so hard to be seen and then be gone since thats how she sees art to be. In other words,She's bad-ass.
Check her stuff out, I got some of the goods on her work, peep it if you so desire.

They're all human-sized silhouette like figures with a twist. I'm not going to reveal too much since these pics themselves are of non finished works so def go check it out. Karen's a great artist with an affection for drawing herself wearing Addidas (hoping for a sneaker deal? jk) and has a love for fashion. She's teaching now in FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology for non-Googlers) so there's your credentials right there!

I'm too scared to draw something for many hours and then know it won't last. Guess I haven't achieved that level of appreciation for the ART concept.(I keep EVERYTHING). Til next. Expect something annoyingly difficult from me in about 2 days or less.
Art Away!

Backstory Time Folks (Cuz I'm Lazy)

Hey! Welcome, wipe your feet on the rug and relax, its story time. Its been a few weeks now and I'm dying under the weight of all this school work, its getting in the middle of my fun time (not a masturbation joke...unless you think its funny then by all means, enjoy) I know it's probably a lame reason but there won't be a fresh new drawing up this week. Sorry, school in the end comes first, if I had a job, then I would say fuck it but school is more like a dominatrix, need I say anything more? I do? Nipple clamps. There you go.

So yeah, why not post up some of my old stuff? Because I don't want to!...Okay, you talked me into it.(No one really spells out okay anymore) When I was young, I used to...trace (I feel a lil dirty thinking back on it, not because of the tracing, just...memories) Anyways, yeah, it took me a while to actually draw stuff and you can say I'm still not caught up. I grew up in the Dominican Republic (said backwards for all my spanish brethren...or just hicks). My cartoons were not limited by my country's third worldlyness though, I used to watch Dragon Ball (Z too), He-Man, Looney Tunes but I think my first anime that I watched alot was Sailor Moon...I know, I know.
Moving on, that got me into that whole genre, it expanded much more when I picked up my first manga book, I'll never forget the name, it was Ejaculation Rangers, weird since I found it in Borders...
Ok, seriously, it was Love Hina Vol.2. I just really liked the style and Ken Akamatsu (the manga artist) is still one of my fave artists today and here are some other stuff that inspires me.

This is probably getting too long so I'll just show some of my work that I've done over the last few years. Check it out, nothing too original, not until just recently have I been getting really creative so there you go. Tell me what you think.

Now stop asking me for more! I'm joking, please ask for more. Oh yeah, and post your names when you comment and you're not a blogger member. I want to know who's actually reading this crap. Follow me if you like what I do and if you don't spite me by following me, that'll teach me!

PS:I got the next three drawings planned out. The first is for my brother since I owe him since October and have been lying saying I did it (I swear Im nice) so you'll see what he asked for.the second is for some groupie I know that thinks she's my girlfriend(I tell her that to keep her from going nuts and killing herself, or worse, me!) And the third is for one of my best friends, now THAT is going to be challenging, I've never done that kind of drawing so it should be challenging to say the least. Are PS' supposed to be this long? Ah well, leave a comment, tell me your opinion.

That Surfin' Echidna...Dude.

Nice to see you again! Have you lost weight? Woww, I can really tell...Niw that you're under the impression I'm a nice guy, hello.Man this week felt long.Ok, so I'm a little late with this week's drawing but I have a pretty good excuse: Echidna's are fucking hard to draw. I took this drawing request from Matt, one of my blog readers and a classmate and damn does he know how to pick 'em. I struggled to make this thing not look like a bird on two legs, to make its mouth not look like a platypus mouth and its fingers not like claws. It's a clusterfuck of an animal if you've ever seen one:an anteater, porcupine and platypus...a fucking platypus... enough said. This is the first pic, sorry about the quality, it was with my Blackberry (I don't feel good if I don't capitalize my phone):

Ok, so that took me an insane amount of time to think up. I seriously had like 6 pics of it for reference and this is as good as I could get it. Don't like it?....you don't?...Ight then, I don't care about you, you're not my fucking moms! (You actually might be, I don't think she'd like this either.) Anyways, Matt wanted it surfing so...:

At the beginning, it was just a plain board, it was pretty boring to me but then, while in a class (I won't say which for "not failing any class" purposes) and decided to add Knuckles the Echidna to the board to just make this much easier to understand what the hell an Echidna is. Although I have NO IDEA how they came up with calling Knuckles an Echidna, should've just been Knuckles, the Bloody Jamaican Hedgehog, but I'm not a game designer so whatever. Here's a little color in your face. Boom!:

Yeah, at this point, I thought I was pretty much done but since it didn't quite feel complete, I decided to cave and actually draw a bit of a background, water does tend to add a little more credibility if you're pretending to surf (it's not impressive when you use your body as a surf board on the beach, not unless you have someone standing on top.) but I had never drawn water effectively since I like outlining too much but ah, here we go:

I don't know if I made the illusion that he's inside a wave tube but i tried. I just know that I wouldn't surf, swim or even tan near this thing, not for fear of getting pierced by its spiky back (how does it do it?...hardcore hair gel?) Just because I know I wouldn't be picking up any girls with this smooth looking dude nearby.(Ladies, he's single!) Just let me know what you think about him. I'll name him(her?) sometime this week. You can bet it'll be something radical (surf terminology, same as ninja turtle terms). Ight, remember, don't fuck with Echidnas, not because I say they're dangerous, they just seem capable of murder, I think its their naturalluy purple eyes that I can't help but fall in love with... (Knuckles has purple eyes thats why.) Anyways, leave me a request if you'd like. If I like the idea and think I can do it, I'll do it. Simple as that. Leave a comment, don't have to be a member to do it, c'mon! Do it for the LOL's. Leave your name though!

Alright So i Changed it a lil...

Some friends started getting on my case about the colors i picked out for Desert Penguin Ninja Mercenary...who I shall now name Ninguin (mix between ninja and penguin...:D...clever, i know) So I updated it a little by going over the colors and making them a lil darker and more penguin like, well, as much as a penguin with a hat's supposed to look like. Just a quick edit, will fix up at some point in photoshop. Might include in my internet portfolio if good enough.

Like I said, barely a change but might as well show the real finished product that's going on my door in Fort Awesome.
